Steamed Snake

Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement

Steamed Snake

Ready to unload her dishwasher, the Texas housewife opened the dishwasher door only to discover a foot and a half long snake lying on the door. A copperhead! She banged the door shut and considered what to do with the unwelcomed guest. Copperheads were common in her area, and her husband had needed to kill them before. Mystified how it managed to get in her dishwasher, she didn’t want to risk it escaping into her house. With no one near to help, she set the dials for a long, hot wash cycle and started the machine.

Sometimes, a snake of an attitude or an undesirable reaction will drop onto the door of our mind. What can we do when we find an unexpected snake has slithered into our thinking? Close the door to that thought, attitude, or reaction as soon as we recognize it. We don’t need to waste time trying to identify how harmful the snake is.  Set the dials of our heart to prayer and ask God to steam the snake out of our lives.
