Hold Hands When You Can

Hold Hands When You Can.

I love taking my great granddaughter’s little hand to cross the street. It gives me a few precious moments to hold hands before something exciting grabs her attention, and she busies herself elsewhere. As for me, I store the memory of the soft, young hand for future recall. I still treasure a picture of my then 90 year-old mother holding the hand of her newborn great grandchild. One tiny hand yet to undertake any task, and the other wrinkled and blemished by years of work.

The thought makes me want to grab hold of any loved one in reach and at least squeeze their hands. Our days on this earth are limited. Let’s treasure every opportunity to exchange gestures of love with our spouses, our family, our friends. Give some lovely memories to others. Hold hands, throw in some hugs, tell someone you love them.
