The Fixer

Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement

The Fixer

Screech!! Jerk. Jarring, Not what you want to hear and feel when driving down the road late at night. A sound followed as if something fell away and then our ride smoothed out and the noise stopped. Ah, maybe we threw a hub cap, we thought. We’ll see when we get to some light. Not to be. The metallic shrieking began again and the car protested with a great clatter.

Finally, with relief, we left it for repairs. The trouble was the car defied fixing. One visit after another to experts for their best effort failed to provide a fix that lasted more than a day or two. The beleaguered repair shop resorted to groaning each time we appeared with our broken car.

Sometimes we have a relationship that screeches and jolts until we finally seek out help to fix it. We can find expert advice but a difficult relationship may require more than a simple remedy. We may need to employ persistence and a thick skin to restore broken relationships. Every effort to restore a bond will bring better results if it is founded and surrounded with prayer. If we take our groaning over the situation to the Lord in prayer, we will discover that God is the master mechanic of repairs and wants to fix each of us into a well functioning personality.
