Pond Peace

Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement

Ponds of Peace

The ocean’s ebb and flow pushed enough sand during high tides that it built a ledge along the water’s edge so that when the tide receded at low tide it left behind it a pond full of water trapped for a few hours in a large shallow pool. Some waves crested the ledge enough to refresh the water and keep the pond water circulating but protected from the forceful ocean. What fun for little ones. No large waves to swamp them. Shallow water moving slowly enough for delightful play. How perfect that our cottage was positioned in the right spot to enjoy this tidal pool.

Perhaps our times reading the Bible, praying, and worshipping God help us build a ledge in our souls that protects us from the effects of strong tides and provides a gentle sense of God’s peace in our lives even as waves crash into the world at large. God, please position us so that we  know you well enough to experience Your gentle peace even in the midst of powerful forces that would tumble us except You protect us.
