Mary’s Monday Musings to Quilt Encouragement

Love Looks Good

We recently experienced the pleasure of traveling to attend the bridal shower for a beloved niece. Joyfulness permeates bridal showers. Friends and family gathering together to   rejoice with a person who is anticipating marriage is such fun. Showering the bride with useful items for her life with her groom blesses both the recipient and the giver. Laughter, smiles and happiness for someone other than ourselves buoys our spirits. A pretty greeting card carried one of the most intriguing messages at this shower. The card proclaimed, “Love looks good on you.” And it did. Our bride radiated happiness. Her skin glowed, and her eyes sparkled.

How wonderful to realize, love can look good on every one of us regularly. We can experience the glow of love long after the wedding vows are spoken. Married or single, genuine love brings a special radiance to our lives. Haven’t you sometimes experienced the sudden flush of happy love when seeing a friend after an absence? The sound of  baby laughter makes us think loving thoughts as well as laugh with them. The embrace of an aging parent satisfies something deep inside. A child’s hug can soften our day for a while. The momentary clasp of a hand can bring a sparkle to our eyes. There is truth in the old adage, ‘Love makes the world go round.’ Everyone whether young or old, cranky or pleasant, needs love, especially the cranky.  Best of all love is available to each of us regardless of our circumstances. God’s love is always available, constant, and abundant. Ask Him to help us perceive it. In our thoughts, let’s curl ourselves up on His lap and ask Him to fill us to the brim with His love.  Ask Him to help us spread it to others wherever we go.
