Biography
Let me tell you a little about myself.
I've enjoyed writing since I learned to wield a pencil in elementary
school. In grammar school my stories revolved around giants and other
fanciful topics. Now I use my interest in weaving tales to tell the true
stories of others and highlight the marvelous work of God demonstrated by
the anecdote. The stories hidden in people's lives demonstrate the mercy
and grace that God continually pours out on His creatures. Perhaps you
have a story to share with me.
Born in Indiana, I attended Duke University in North Carolina where I
majored in English and minored in History and prayed I'd find the
husband God wanted for me. I fell madly in love and married Roger
Tatem, an electrical engineer. After graduation, we lived in Florida and
Texas while he served in the Navy as a pilot. Now our location in
Newport News, Virginia, is close to Historical Williamsburg which feeds my love for
history.
Blessed with parents who took me to church regularly as a child, it took
the pressures of raising children in an imperfect world to propel me to
ask Jesus Christ, my Savior, to also become my Lord. Serving Him in my
church brings the additional blessing of friends, a joy to a sometimes
lonely only child . Experiences and possessions fade in importance to the
rewards of satisfying relationships with people. Encouraging people is my
passion and my call.
I stayed home to raise our three boys and a girl. With fifteen
grandchildren, my life is rich with tea parties, games, hugs and kisses.
In between pushing words around on my computer, I ply a needle with the
ambition to hand make a quilt for each grandchild. This hobby lead to my
book, The Quilt of Life.
